Gartha G. Clark

Gartha G. Clark, age 103, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2019 at George Ade Memorial Healthcare, Brook, Indiana. She was born on June 4, 1915 Morocco, Indiana to Bruce and Metta (Hammel) Hanger. A lifelong resident, she attended the Morocco schools, graduating from Morocco High School with the Class of 1933. She was a lifelong member of the United Church of Morocco where she was a past Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women’s Fellowship. On May 25, 1935, in Morocco, Indiana Gartha married the love of her life, Vance D. Clark. Gartha and Vance celebrated 55 years of marriage prior to his death on March 25, 1991. Family was very important to Gartha and she loved visiting with them. She likes to read, watch birds and enjoyed working with flowers, especially her roses. Gartha was a bridge club member for many years, enjoyed bowling and was an avid Purdue fan, attending many football and basketball games over the years. Gartha’s favorite pastime was going on fishing trips with Vance and she became an excellent fisherwoman. Surviving is her loving children and family, four sons, Gary (Sharell) Clark and Scott (Sharen) Clark both of Morocco, IN, Dr. Kirk (Holly) Clark of Columbus, IN and Dane (Diane) Clark of Red Boiling Springs, TN; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and two sisters, Barbara Clarkson and Dianne Hendryx, both of Morocco. Gartha was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, one sister, Wilma Robinson, two brothers, David Hanger and Bernard Hanger, and one great-granddaughter, Eva Clark. Friends may call at the United Church of Morocco on Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 noon. Funeral services for Gartha will be held at the United Church of Morocco at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 17, 2019, with Pastor Patrick Gutwein officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Morocco, IN. Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Morocco. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer.
