Macario "Mac" Delgado

Macario “Mac” Delgado, 91, a resident of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Mac was born on a farm near Martindale, TX on December 22, 1931, the son of Nazario and Petra (Vasquez) Delgado. Mac attended the Reedville Texas public schools. He married Delia Tristan, and they had ten children together before she preceded him in death in May 1968. Mac worked as a truck driver at Gus Critser Trucking, Ulyat Trucking, Herb Cook Farms, and also Wm. Gehring Farms before his retirement. He attended St. Augustine Catholic Church. Mac enjoyed collecting coins and arrowheads. He also liked gardening. Mac cultivated and enjoyed many lifelong friendships, and he never ever met a stranger. Mac is survived by his children, Estela Zamora of Rensselaer, IN, Rita Delgado of Rensselaer, IN, Yolanda (Bivian) Cuevas of San Marcos, TX, Mary Jane (Hilario) Zamora of Maxwell, TX, Macario Jr. (Rosie) Delgado of San Marcos, TX, Rosa (Rick) Hendryx of West Lafayette, IN, Sally (Chris) Smidler of Medaryville, IN, Jimmy (Priscilla) Delgado of San Marcos, TX, Vincent (Linda) Delgado of San Marcos, TX, Delia (Phil) Albrecht of Rensselaer, IN; stepchildren, Jim (Connie) Nabors of Westfield, IN, Gina (Steve) DeMoss of Medaryville, IN, Pam (Jim) DeMoss of Wheatfield, IN; siblings, Guadalupe Molina of San Marcos, TX, Prudencio (Lina) Delgado of Maxwell, TX; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Mac was preceded in death by his parents; wife and mother of his children, Delia Delgado; brothers, Vicente Delgado Sr., Pedro Delgado Sr., Jose Delgado Sr., Bernardino (Ben) Delgado; sisters, Francisca Delgado Casillas, Rosa Delgado Guerrero, Simona Delgado Aguirre, Faustina Delgado Resendez; grandson, Joey Cantu; granddaughter, Marissa Delgado.; stepson, Tommy Nabors; second wife, Virginia Delgado. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM CT at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 9:30 AM CT with Father Joshua Bennett officiating. Interment at Independence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
