Mary Victoria Pruitt

Mary Victoria Pruitt departed this earthly life for her eternal home on September 21, 2017. She was 81 at the time of her death. Mary was born on December 24, 1935. She was the fifth of 10 children born to Donald and Daisy (Miller) Rich. At the age of 16, she married the love of her life, James Richard Pruitt in New Shawnee Town, IL. They were married on the 17th of October in 1952. It was a simple ceremony, but the vows were spoken from the heart. Their bond was strong and lasted for 55 years until her beloved Jim was called home on March 11, 2007. She was a hardworking farm wife. Raising large gardens and working beside her husband to run a 40 acre blueberry farm. She served faithfully as a pastor’s wife for 36years. In addition to raising her own children, Mary & Jim were foster parents caring for twenty-five children over the years. In her retirement years, she thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was known as a mother to all as she stayed connected to people with her prayers and encouraging words. Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13; “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” Mary was a faithful member of the Faith Pentecostal Church of God Rensselaer, IN. She is survived by three children, Patty (Lanny) Baughman of Walkerton, IN, Michael Pruitt of Rensselaer, IN. Ora (Jerry) Wolf of Wheatfield, IN, and 19 Grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Martin of Portage; Three brothers, James Rich of Crossroads TN, Ray (Nancy) Rich of Lake Station IN, Earl Rich of Wheatfield, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Jerry Ray Pruitt, a brother John Rich; four sisters, Dorothy Booth, Sylvia Rich, Norma Coons, Minnie Fisher; and one grandson Jeremiah “Jay” Baughman. Friends my visit with the family on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 4 – 8 PM at the Faith Pentecostal Church of God, 3385 N US 231, Rensselaer, IN. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10 AM at the Faith Pentecostal Church of God, 3385 N US 231, Rensselaer IN with Bishop Rick Helton and Pastor Mark Warran officiating. Burial will be in the Memory Garden Cemetery, Rensselaer, IN. Memorial contributions may be given Faith Pentecostal Church of God.
