Michael "Mike" E. Altman

Obituary for Michael (Mike) E. Altman originally from Wolcott and recently residing in Rensselaer. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael E Altman, 73. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mike lived a full and meaningful life, always putting others before himself and making a positive impact on all who knew him. He proudly served in the United States Air Force where he received an accommodation Medal of Honor for his efforts in the clean up of hurricane Camille while stationed at Kessler Air Force Base. He had a passion for golfing, fishing, watching sports (especially the Purdue Boilermakers and Chicago Cubs), hanging at the fire pit, having a perfect lawn along with the garden, and was always eager to be with friends and family. He’s also well known (inside the family) for his delicious breakfast and magical popcorn that no one can seem to replicate. Mike was a true friend to many and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on through the many lives he touched. Mike is survived by his wife Peggy, 4 children Jay Altman (wife Kelly) and their children Haley, Emma, Jameson and Taylor; Michele Good (husband Brian) and their children Kristen and Zach; Jon Altman (wife Bo) and their children Keyli, Caydan and Callen; Ashley LeBeau (husband Jeff) and their children Hadley and Brodie; sister Mary Inez Misch, (husband William); sister Barb Schultz; and sister Kathy Altman. Mike is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mildred Altman of Wolcott and his two brothers Robert (Bob) and Sam Altman of Wolcott. A celebration of life will be held in honor of Mike on Sunday February 12th from 12-4 cst. at Fenwick Farms Brewing Company located at 219 W Washington Street, Rensselaer, IN 47978, United States. Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer has been entrusted with the arrangements. We invite all who knew and loved him to come together to celebrate his life, share stories and memories, pay their respects and have a beer on Mike.
