Patricia A. Stath

Patricia A. Stath, age 81, of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. She was born on September 11, 1944, in Rensselaer, Indiana, to Ronald and Sylvia (Lehman) Tiede and attended the Rensselaer Public School system. Patricia worked as a payroll administrator at St. Joseph’s College for 20 years. She was also employed at Southport Square and most recently at Sealy Springs. Patricia was a faithful member of Tri-County Bible Church. She was a longtime bowler and participated in the Remington Bowling League. Patricia also enjoyed playing dartball and cross-stitching, but she was especially happiest in her garden. Pat loved tending her flowers and growing vegetables to share with her family. She kept up with the comings and goings of the birds and other backyard wildlife — even the unwelcome squirrels and chipmunks who foraged without invitation. A hardworking mother of three, Patricia met life’s challenges with determination and unwavering devotion to her family. She was steadfast in her support of her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters. She treasured the rare and special moments when everyone could gather in the home she worked hard to provide — a place where all generations were always welcome. Known affectionately as “Gigi,” she loved puzzles and card games and was a true card shark. Whether it was Euchre, Dominos, or Skip-Bo, she played to win — and showed no mercy, not even to her grandchildren. Nothing pleased her more than gifting something practical and thoughtful, an item she knew would make someone’s life just a little easier. Each birth was marked with a custom baby blanket, lovingly made by Gigi. She believed firmly in “waste not, want not,” saving anything that still had a bit of life left in it, especially gift wrap at Christmas, an ongoing laugh in the family. Famous for her deviled eggs and chicken and noodles, she was always willing to share her recipes, but if you were going to help, you “better do it right”. If you ever needed a photograph of just about anyone, Gigi was the one you turned to. And no visit was complete without one of her extra-long, deeply loving hugs. In more recent years, Pat embraced time with friends as well, becoming a lady who lunched, attended movies, and enjoyed social gatherings to stay connected and engaged. She also cherished the years she shared with her longtime companion, Roland Langhammer, who preceded her in death in 2002. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Patricia is survived by her children, Ronald (Kim) Stath of Bedford, Indiana, Susan (Kirk) Whitaker of Rensselaer, and Kevin (Julie) Stath of Rensselaer; her grandchildren, Devan, Amber, Kyle, Haley, Nichole, and Fred; and her great-grandchildren, Ailynn, Emmy, Noa, Raegen, Arya, Korra, and Kayden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ron and Sylvia Tiede; her sister, Marie Smith; her brother, Billy Richard “Dick” Tiede; and her ex-husband, Fred Stath. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. CT, with Pastor Andy Majorins officiating. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rensselaer, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-County Bible Church.
