Pauline M. Templeton

Pauline M. Templeton, 82, of Rensselaer passed away peacefully Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Jasper County Hospital, Rensselaer, Indiana. Pauline was born September 1, 1930, in Monticello, Indiana, the daughter of Ernest and Daisy (Swartz) Smith. She was raised in Monticello and was a 1948 graduate of Monticello High School. After graduation Pauline worked in the office at the RCA plant in Monticello. On November 6, 1949, she married her sweetheart, Eben R. “Ebby” Templeton, Jr., at the Monticello Christian Church. They moved to Rensselaer in 1953, when Ebby took a job at the Rensselaer Republican. Pauline was a former member of the Monticello Christian Church and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rensselaer. She was a meticulous bookkeeper and enjoyed her positions at the former Von Tobel Lumber Company and at 4-County Supply. She also had worked at the former Superior Cleaners. Pauline loved to bowl and was a longtime member of the Heave ‘n Hope Bowling League in Rensselaer. She was proud to hold the record of the High Women’s Series of 664 for many years. She enjoyed bunco club, flower gardening, needle work and crafts, making home made candy at Christmas and was an avid reader. Pauline had been a cub scout den-mother, was a proud “Bomber Mom and Grandma”, attending hundred’s of events of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Purdue basketball and the times spent at the Covered Bridge Festival with her sister. Pauline’s greatest joy was that of being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving family, son, Jeffery R. (wife Jill) Templeton, Malvern, PA, daughters, Cay (husband Steve) Jordan and Lori Rose both of Rensselaer and Judy Haygood of Pocatella, Idaho; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Knochel, Monticello, IN, brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Mary Smith, Lafayette, IN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ebby on July 26, 1987, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Bonnie Smith, brother-in-law, Harold Knochel, two special nieces, Beth Knochel and Vicki Corell and great-grandson, Brady Meyer. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Pastor John Hostetter officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Jasper County Hospital.
