Roger D. Pullins

Roger D. Pullins, age 70, passed away December 19, 2015, at his home in rural Rensselaer. Roger was born December 30, 1944, in Jasper County, Indiana to James Delos Pullins and Virginia (Walker) Pullins. Roger was a lifetime resident of Jasper County. He attended the South Barkley School and Fair Oaks School. Roger was a member of the Indiana National Guard. On January 9, 1966, Roger married Patricia Ann “Pat” Makus in Rensselaer, Indiana and they celebrated 44 years of marriage. Pat preceded him in death on April 7, 2010. Roger married Leae Williams on July 14, 2012, and she survives. Roger retired from construction work with International Laborers’ Union of North America after 25 years. He later began work with the Jasper County Highway Department where he worked 17 years before retiring. He attended the Trinity United Methodist Church of Rensselaer and was a member of the former Barkley Methodist Church. Roger enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing, and most of all playing card games with friends. Roger is survived by his loving family, wife Leae Pullins, two daughters, Tammy (Kendell) Culp and Tonia (Jack) Pullins, one son, Daniel Pullins, all of Rensselaer; eight grandchildren, Kayla Culp and Brandon (Abby) Culp, Morgan (Ryan) Ruemler and Zack Dowty, Abby and Austan Pullins, Brandon Whited and Kollin Amsler; three great-grandchildren, Addalynn, Jacqueline and William; a niece, Cindy (Tommy) Overmeyer; two step-children, Annette (William) Pfeiffer and Donald L. Williams, Jr.; six step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Steve (Pam) Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents Delos and Virginia Pullins, his wife Pat Pullins, a daughter-in-law, Amber Pullins and one sister, Judith Adkins. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Pastor John Hostetter officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer, Indiana. Memorials are suggested to Franciscan Health Rensselaer Home Healthcare and Hospice.
