Wayne Arthur Bryant

passed away Wednesday July 16, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Lafayette, IN. Wayne was born on July 26, 1918 in Grand Ridge IL. To the late Mark Arthur Bryant and Sarah Emilia nee Benkendorf. Wayne had been a resident of Rensselaer since 1985 and had wintered in Castroville, CA from 1987 to 2000. Prior moving to Rensselaer Wayne had lived in South, Bend IN. For 34 years. On February 18, 1942 in Rensselaer, IN Wayne married the late Mary “Betty” E. nee Gilmore who passed away December 25, 1997. He had graduated form A.J. Kent High School Kentland, IN., class of 1936. He had also attended Hanover College in Hanover, IN. for two years. For 32 years Wayne was an aircraft inspector. He was employed by Bendix Aircraft Corp., South Bend, IN., Jasper County Telephone Company., Inland Steel, Pullman Standard Car-Aircraft Division. Wayne was a late model stock car photographer for 20 years. He had Wayne Bryant Photo’s in South Bend IN., This was his lifetime passion. Wayne was a WWII veteran U.S. Air Force rank of PFC, during his service in the military he was a instructor on radio operations and Mechanics. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #125, American Legion Post #29 and the Loyal Order of Moose # 804 of Rensselaer, IN. Wayne is survived by; Good Friend Kathyrn Sprinkle of Rensselaer, Two daughters, Mary Ann (Harold) Leffel of Monterey, CA and Sara Bryant of Lynchburg , VA ., Four grandchildren; Rev. Stephanie McLemore and Lisa (Larry) Kenderski , Andrea (Dan) Coleman and David Leffel, Three Great-grandchildren Katherine, Victoria, Alexandra Coleman. Wayne is proceeded in death by; His parents, Mark Arthur Bryant and Sarah Emilia nee Benkendorf. His wife, Mary “Betty” E. nee Gilmore Three sisters and one brother, Ethel, Effie, Helen and Mark “Bud”. Friends may call on Sunday July 20, 2008 from 4 PM to 6PM C.S.T at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer, IN. Funeral Service will be held at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer On Sunday July 20, 2008 at 6:00PM C.S.T with Pastor John Hostetter officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at Weston Cemetery on Monday July 21, 2008 at 12:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Jasper County Meals on Wheels.
