Elsie A. Smith

Elsie A. Smith, age 76, of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. She was born on January 26, 1946, the daughter of Charles and Annette (Cotner) Smith. Elsie attended the Indiana State School for the Blind. She was affiliated with the Trinity United Methodist Church of Rensselaer. She was a past member of the Women of the Moose #804 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #2548. Elsie enjoyed being a homemaker, taking care of her household and children. She also loved to spend time with her family, including her significant other of over thirty years, Richard Reed, who preceded her in death in 2020. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Scarlet Dawn Rawson of Rensselaer, IN; grandchildren, Tyler, Derek, and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Faith, Neveah, Avery, Gabby, and Hunter; siblings, Clara Gilbert of Knox, IN, and John Smith of Rensselaer, IN. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, daughter, Robin Smith, and significant other of over thirty years, Richard Reed. Friends may call on the family on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM CDT at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 10:30 AM CDT at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Pastor Jeremy Eisele officiating. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
