June Zoe Simmons

July 31, 1934 - February 12, 2022

June Z. Simmons, age 87, a lifelong resident of Rensselaer, IN, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born in Hammond, IN, on July 31, 1934, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Bush) Lange. June attended high school in both Logansport and Rensselaer. On October 12, 1953, in Idaville, IN, she married her sweetheart, James Lloyd Simmons, who preceded her in death in 2009. Throughout their lives together June worked beside Lloyd in many of the businesses they owned. She was a member of the Iroquois Valley Christian Church. She loved being active outdoors, working on her physical fitness by doing yoga, swimming, and jogging. June also enjoyed working with her hands in her vegetable and flower gardens but her greatest accomplishment was her FAMILY. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. June is survived by her children, Pamela (Dennis) Sayler of Rensselaer, IN, James B. (Polly) Simmons of St. Augustine, FL and Paula (Greg) McKnight of Rensselaer, IN; grandchildren, Kent Sayler, Ericka (Jason) Elijah, Landon (Jeannine) Sayler, Michael Sayler, Amy (Caleb) Ikerd, Jason Simmons, Kayla (JP) O’Donnell, and Mitchell (Kelsey) McKnight; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Zoeanne, Lucas, Rowyn, Brynn, Amelia, Patrick, and Declan; sisters, Marjorie Armour and Sandra Northcutt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, Lloyd, two brothers and five sisters. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Elizabeth Hartmann officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
