Larry Lee Fleming Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Larry Fleming, 79, of Rensselaer, IN, passed away on July 12, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born in Rensselaer, IN on December 26, 1942, the son of Gaylord and Frances (Payne) Fleming. Larry attended Rensselaer High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. He married the Patricia V. (Galloway) Phebus on February 14, 1982, in Las Vegas, NV and she preceded him in death on April 18, 1993. Larry enlisted in the US Army and served our country in the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong farmer and he also worked in the Steel Workers Union as a welder at Bethlehem/Burns Harbor Steel for forty-five years. Larry enjoyed farming and being outdoors, gardening and planting flowers. During winter months, he had fun snowmobiling with family. He was an avid traveler as well. Larry loved spending time at frequent family get togethers, visiting with family and friends and playing in countless euchre tournaments. He will be greatly missed. Larry is survived by his children, David (Kris) Fleming of Rensselaer, IN, Mike (Patty) Fleming of Rensselaer, IN, Mark (Stacy) Fleming of West Lafayette, IN, and Tom (Christy) Fleming of Rensselaer, IN; grandchildren, Derek (Ashley) Fleming, Danielle (Nick) Hitchings, Timothy Fleming, Jenelle Fleming, Jade Hall, Jasmine Moore, Jack Ziese, Sarah (Matt) Martin, John Fleming, Katie (Joel) Szczepanski, Austin (Morgan) Fleming, Morgan (Keegan) Beineke, Joshua Fleming, and Jesilyn Fleming; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Fleming of Rensselaer, IN and Carol Yoder of West Lafayette, IN; many nieces and nephews; and three stepchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Fleming; first wife and mother of his sons, Lois (Markle) Phegley; great-grandson, Levi Hitchings; brothers, Don “Snook” Fleming and Jack Fleming; grandson-in-law, Jacob Moore; and one stepson. Friends may call upon the family on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Jackson Funeral Chapel from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM CT. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 10:00 AM CT at Jackson Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer with full military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to Jasper County Veterans Affairs and/or Haven Hospice in Demotte, IN.
