Ronald Lee Kaufman

Ronald Lee Kaufman, age 82, of Rensselaer, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 in his home. The son of Howard and Ellen (Spall) Kaufman, he was born on September 8, 1937 in Brook, Ind. Ronald was a lifelong resident of the Rensselaer area. He graduated from Rensselaer Central High School as a member of the Class of 1956. On February 8, 1959, he married Joan Williams, who survives. Ron was a farmer by trade. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Rensselaer and the Masonic Lodge. An avid sport’s fan, he followed Purdue basketball and the Chicago Cubs. Nothing brought him more joy than attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Joan, three children, Terry (Bobbi) Kaufman of Rensselaer, Greg (Kim) Kaufman of Rensselaer and Kevin (Judy) Kaufman of Rensselaer. Also, surviving are eight grandchildren, Ryan, Randy, Jodi, Chase, Nathan, Jakob, Karly, and Sarah. His brother, Jim (Ingrid) Kaufman of Palatine, IL also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ellen Kaufman. Due to the current pandemic, the family will have private graveside services. Memorial contributions in Ron’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or an organization of the donor’s choice.
