Rosalene "Rose" Osborn Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rosalene “Rose” Osborn, 83, of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis on Friday, June 24, 2022. Rose was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on November 29, 1938, to the late Thomas and Rosa (Stephens) Prater. Rose was a resident of Rensselaer for 74 years and Prestonsburg, Kentucky for 9 years. Rose attended Wheatfield Schools and earned her High School GED in her 60’s. On October 15, 1966, in Rensselaer, she married, James “Jim” Osborn who passed away on June 4, 2000. She retired from Sealy Mattress Corporation Rensselaer, Indiana after 44 years of employment. After retiring, Rose bartended at American Legion and multiple clubs and organizations in Rensselaer. She was a member of the Rensselaer American Legion Post 29 & the VFW Post 1279 Women’s Auxiliaries, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2272, and Fraternal Order of Eagles 2548. Rose is survived by; three children, Glenda Nannenga of Rensselaer, IN., Sherry (William) Holbrook of Rensselaer, IN., James (Tammy) Holliday of Morocco, IN.; seven grandchildren, Staci Nannenga, Jaimee (Robert) Haan, Christopher (Susan) Nannenga, Jennifer (Daniel) Yeager, Jessica (Robert) Linback, Brandon Holliday; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Rude and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her parents, Thomas and Rosa (Stephens) Prater; husband, James “Jim” Osborn; two sisters, Maxine Helton, Irene Weltzin; two brothers, Raleigh and Oliver Prater; one grandson, Justin Holbrook and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Jackson Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM CDT. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM CDT with Father Don Davison officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Rensselaer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rensselaer American Legion Post 29.
