Sherri Renee Geesa

January 17, 1961 - April 17, 2019

Sherri Renee Geesa, age 58, of Rensselaer passed away April 17, 2019, at her home with her loving family at her side. Sherri was born in Huntington, West Virginia on January 17, 1961, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Pack) Hesson. She later moved to Rensselaer with her family. She was a 1979 graduate of Rensselaer Central High School. Sherri had been a waitress and bartender for many years at the City Office and Pub in Rensselaer. She later purchased the business where she continued her passion of being in the restaurant business. Sherri was a 30 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and former president. She enjoyed volunteering and helped at many community and fund raising events. She was a past Jr. Pro Basketball coach, as well as a former coach of girls softball. Sherri was a member of the Faith Pentecostal Church of God. Surviving are her parents, Henry and Bessie Hesson of Rensselaer, her children, Missy (Shawn Calhoun) Lockard, Brooke Geesa, Chasity (Brian) Phegley and Kyle (Beth Houston) Geesa all of Rensselaer, six grandchildren, Claityn, Melaina, Kaidyn, Ashton, Matthew, and Alison, her siblings, Tammy Bottoms of South Carolina, and Mary (Tom) Alberts and Jeff Hesson, both of Rensselaer, her significant other for 24 years and 9 months, Terry Gilbert of Rensselaer and four step-children and their families, Daniel “OJ”, Andrew, Jake and Tyler. She was preceded in death by three grandsons, Austin, Braylen and James. Friends may visit with the family at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer on Monday, April 22, 2019, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with Pastor Mark Warren officiating. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Rensselaer.
