Edith M. Lane

Edith M. Lane, age 77, of Rensselaer, Indiana, walked into heaven on Easter sunrise. She was born on November 6, 1948, in Newton County, Indiana, to Edward and Ruby (Denham) Eisele, who preceded her in death. Edith graduated from Rensselaer Central High School with the Class of 1966. She married the love of her life, Gale L. Lane, on April 15, 1967, in Rensselaer, and he survives. Edith was primarily a homemaker, dedicating her life to caring for her family. She also worked at the Rensselaer Middle School cafeteria for six years and in the deli at the former Pick’n Save grocery store. She was a devoted member of Brookside Assembly of God Church and lived her life guided by a strong Christian faith. Edith enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, gardening and tending to her flowers, watching hummingbirds, and relaxing with word search puzzles. She loved traveling, especially to Missouri, Arkansas, and Brown County, Indiana. Edith also found great joy in cooking, listening to Christian music, and most importantly, spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Gale Lane; her children, Annette VanHouten of Lafayette, Indiana, Janet (Mike) Delaney of Englewood, Florida, Cathy Lane of Lafayette, Indiana, Gale (Jennifer) Lane Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Rebecca (Toby) Glancy of Hebron, Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, with four more on the way; and her siblings, Edward (Anna) Eisele of McKinney, Texas, Harold (Betty) Eisele of Monticello, Indiana, Annamae Stone of Englewood, Florida, Naomi Schleman of Monon, Indiana, Martha Branson of Rensselaer, Indiana, George (Ruthie) Eisele of Rensselaer, Indiana, and Charlene Stone of Ocala, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and one sister. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CT at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. CT at the funeral chapel, with Pastor Doug Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer. Memorial contributions may be made to Brookside Assembly of God Church.
