Harold Allen Shuster

Harold Allen Shuster, age 77, of Rensselaer passed away Monday April 23, 2012 at the George Ade Memorial Healthcare Center. He was born on April 7, 1935 in Rensselaer, the son of Frederick J. and Barbara Anne Gilmore Shuster. Harold graduated from Rensselaer High School, Class of 1954. He attended St. Joseph College from 1954-1956. He was employed as a licensed radiology technician at the Jasper County Hospital from 1956-1964. He later accepted a position as an Inside Sales Account representative with the former Northway Products in Rensselaer until his retirement in 1998. On September 13, 1958, he married Beverly Bupp, who survives. Harold was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a 34 year member of the Jasper County Hospital Board of Trustees, and a board member of George Ade Memorial Healthcare Center. Harold was past president of the Indiana Society of Radiologic Technologists and a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists where he served as representative at their national conventions. Harold also served as a member of the board of directors of the former Farmers & Merchants National Bank in Rensselaer which eventually merged with Bank One. He was proud to be a St. Joseph College Fellow, a member of the Marian Assembly 1833 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and the Bishop Dwenger Council 1881, Knights of Columbus. Harold’s hobbies included fishing, hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Harold is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, two daughters, Rita M. Hughes of Lafayette, Ind., and Janet L. (Charles) Crudden of Derry, NH, sisters, Carol (Lawrence) Ricci and Kathryn (James) Trobaugh, both of Kokomo, Ind., grandchildren, Samantha & Emily Hughes, Trevor Shuster, Taylor Crudden and Trajen Crudden, several nieces & nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday April 30, 2012 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with scripture services at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday May 1, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Don Davison officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rensselaer. Memorial contributions may be made to Gibault Inc., 6401 S US 41 Hwy, Terre Haute, IN 47802 or St. Augustine Catholic School or the charity of the donor’s choice.
