Michael T Johnson Sr was delivered to his heavenly home Sunday, May 31, 2026. He was surrounded by his family at Christ Advocate Hospital. Mike was born June 26, 1965 to Wilfred (Art) Johnson and Janet Reidstra (McDonald). He was raised in Beecher, Illinois and graduated from Illiana Christian High School before proudly starting multiple and successful farming businesses in Fair Oaks. He worked diligently to create niche companies that serviced his community in Jasper County, Indiana. His work was his passion, his family was his life, but before all Mike served Christ and ensured to always put his relationship with the Lord as his top priority. Mike married the love of his life, Sharon Vanderbilt, on June 27, 1986. Together they welcomed three beautiful children into the world. Mike naturally became an incredible father who was always encouraging and loving. He was his wife’s and children’s biggest supporter in every one of their hobbies, pursuits, and careers. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, and his three children Sarah (Alex Jerzyk), Hannah (Heinrich) Oosthuizen, and Michael Jr. He is also survived by his mother Janet, and three siblings Rick (Tina) Johnson, Becki (Kevin) Bachert, and Tim Johnson. Mike was an adored uncle to his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Wilfred (Art) Johnson, and niece Alyssa Bachert. From the excavator cab to the bowling alley, Mike is known for his gentle-spirit and hard work ethic. Always glad to stand around a truck tailgate to discuss life, jobs, and fishing, Mike was sure to share a laugh and make people feel included. He genuinely loved, above everything else, Christ Jesus our Lord, followed by his family, church, employees, and friends. His faith was the navigation system for his life, and Christ was his guide in all endeavors. Though a humble servant, Mike possessed unmatched leadership. He was a man whose joy came from providing. His ultimate testament in life was, above all, to point everyone he knew towards Salvation through Jesus Christ. His humble form of leadership was always directed toward Serving the Lord first. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This verse is one that Mike cherished and instilled in his family, which gives comfort and assurance in faith leading to Salvation. Mike was a blessing to everyone. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew him. Now, in eternal Glory, Mike has been received by Christ. “His master replied, ‘Well done good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:21 A visitation will be held at Community Christian Reformed Church of Roselawn, Indiana on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Food will be provided during the visitation time. The family wishes a meaningful time of fellowship with family and friends. Please stick around for food. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Community Christian Reformed Church. Graveside services will be privately held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Christian Reformed Church.
