Rosemary L. Allen

Rosemary L. Allen, a resident of rural Rensselaer, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Friday, 7, 2024, at the age of 85 in the comfort of her own home. She was born on September 30 1938, in Valparaiso, Indiana to the late Russell Glen and Ada Ruth (Nuss) Berrier. On February 25, 1956, Rosemary married her loving husband Jack Allen in Valparaiso. Following his passing on September 11, 2004, Rosemary was a devoted homemaker and cared for and cherished her family. She had a special affection for children and often provided babysitting services not only for her neighbors but also for other relatives. Rosemary found joy in keeping herself occupied with various hobbies such as sewing and crocheting. Crafting was another passion that brought her immense happiness. In addition to these activities that filled her days with delight and purposefulness , she kept her mind sharp by engaging in puzzles and delighted in cooking delicious meals for her loved ones. Left to cherish fond memories are Rosemary's children: Jack Allen Jr., Carrie Allen both residing in Rensselaer; Penny Allen Braden from Burrows; Claudia Allen from West Lafayette; one brother Russell Alan “Butch” (Pat) Berrier, living in Medaryville and son-in-law, Jerry Gilbert of Monon. She will forever be remembered by eleven grandchildren along with twenty-four great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Rosemary's passing were not only her parents but also one daughter Cindy Allen , one son Russell Allen , one grandson, four great-grandchildren along with one sister and two brothers. Visitation will take place at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Thursday June13, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00PM CT. Funeral services will be at Jackson Funeral Chapel on Friday June14, 2024 at 10:30 AM CT with Pastor Carl Lenderman presiding over the service. Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery, Gilliam Township, Indiana . In memory of Rosemary’s life memorials may be made to either the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association according to your preference—a gift that would honor this remarkable woman's memory.
